Lady friend gave back ring

December 07, 2021

Dear Pastor,

I have been reading your column since you started writing. This is my first time writing to you. I am over 78 years old. At present, I am living alone. Why? On June 15, 1973, I married a lady and from then we made a vow, which we kept until death.

I lost my wife on October 20, 2014. She died of natural causes. I thank God for that. We lived together until she died. I got engaged to another lady in 2015, after the passing of my wife, with one intention, which was to marry her. Now it is 2021 and we do not live together; she only visits. The same day that we got engaged, she got the keys for the house. Since the start of 2021, this lady friend of mine, who lost her husband, also visited the home. She was vexed and she angrily gave back the ring based on hearsay. Her friend told her that I said something about her, but I do not remember saying such a thing. Those two friends are not good friends.

Dear Writer,

You can only marry one woman. It seems to me that the one you are engaged to is the one you should marry, because she must have been special to you. You gave her your house keys. The other one wants to be in your life and might be making mischief. You are a grown man and should be able to discern who is speaking the truth.

Anyway, my friend, marry the woman you love more. It is time for you to settle down.
