The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) last night revealed details about a helicopter landing that occurred in Portmore yesterday afternoon.

In a media release, the JDF said that one of its student pilots "had to perform a precautionary landing in the Hill Run area of St Catherine yesterday".

"The pilot was taken to Up Park Camp where a full evaluation was done and he is stable with no apparent physical injuries," the JDF said. The army said the pilot is being given the appropriate medical support. As for the helicopter, the JDF said that initial investigation of the aircraft showed no significant damage.

"The JDF continues to exercise best practices in aviation and will be conducting the appropriate safety investigation to determine the cause and remedies to prevent a recurrence," the JDF said. Also in the release, the JDF noted that it had received numerous calls of concern and thanked the public "for their continued well wishes".
